How to do a low carb high fat lifestyle (diet) properly.

Check around the internet and you will find a billion low carb articles, some are great, others are complete nonsense ! Let me tell you how to do it and stay healthy and happy. First if you are dropping the carbs and processed junk big time, do not replace the carbs with protein. Fat should be the replacement, but stay a million miles away from fats from rapeseed (canola) etc. For hydrogenated fats read poison.

Eat fats from butter, eggs, double cream, meat and fish. Most nuts and seeds are great, keep away from peanuts, which are not a true nut. Make non starchy vegetables a mainstay. For the average meal they should cover at least half your plate. Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, sweed, celeriac, brussel sprouts, kale, peppers, onion, garlic, and pretty much as much salad items as you want. These vegetables and salad items are very low in carbs and calories.

Never forget this, there is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate, but without fats and proteins we die. That is a fact and a give away for those that push carbs with every meal, such as the NHS, DUK and ADA. Whole fresh food is the way to go, but be prepared to pay more and put in some work. In the long run quality food is much cheaper than medical bills, not to mention the anguish of debilitating illnesses and diseases.

OK, I am not trying to fool you that low carb high fat is for everyone and a cure for all ills, but it’s a damn good start. A start our six grandchildren are on. Me and Jan never fail to be enthused when we see our nippers chomping into broccoli and salad items. Sweets/candy is a once a week treat at most. And do you know what, the nippers don’t miss junk one bit. Type two diabetes runs through four generations of my family, I hope our son is the last.

BTW Anyone who wants to take me on will have to deal with my minder first. One of our grandsons gets his first belt in karate.
