Salad Days Are Here

I don't know about you but at this time of year salads appear on our menu quite often. The great thing about them is the variety that is available.

Take the humble lettuce. From the incredibly crunchy iceberg lettuce, to the peppery rocket leaf salad. Or how about the sweeter tasting Italian Style, or the earthy flavour of the baby leaf spinach, there is so much variety.

One of the nicest tasting lettuce I've experienced recently was a romaine leaf lettuce. It was home grown in my sisters garden, and whilst family were enjoying a recent lunch time get together it was freshly picked from her garden to enjoy with some cucumber, peppers, and on the vine tomatoes, served with a selection of delicious meats. Good company, great healthy food and her roses this year are just amazing!  We sat enjoying each others company, great tasting food and the delight of some wonderful English Roses.....perfect.

Out and about recently temperatures hit 30C ...hot or what, dinner just had to be a salad served with some salmon, delicious and low carb ...of course!

This past weekend storms had been forecast, with the hot temperatures rain so often follows. So if you had planned a BBQ, I hope the weather treated you kindly. Thanks for stopping by, hope the week is going well for you.

More information on the wonderful lettuce is here.

All the best Jan
