Love it, hate it (but how can you?) Broccoli is just a great green vegetable. According to my ‘internet’ research it comes from the cabbage family.
In supermarkets, farmers markets - wherever you buy it, you’ll find it is generally sold in ‘heads‘, which have multiple florets branching off a central stem. Sometimes leaves are still attached, these leaves are still edible, but many of us do discard them, which is a shame. Broccoli is packed with nutrients, and is best briefly steamed, stir-fried, or eaten raw. Great food.
For this simple stir fry:
Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil
85g/3oz broccoli, cut into florets
1 garlic clove, chopped
½ red chilli, finely chopped
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
½ lime juice, only
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Preparation and method
Heat the olive oil in a wok, add the broccoli and fry for 2-3 minutes, or until it’s starting to soften, then add the garlic and chilli and fry for 1-2 minutes.
Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, salt and freshly ground black pepper and fry for 1-2 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender.
To serve, spoon the stir-fry into a bowl and serve as a side dish.

Enjoy this with chicken, fish …or whatever is your favourite.
This original recipe from James Tanner at http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/garlicchilliandbrocc_90660
He estimates preparation time no more than 30 minutes and cooking time at 10 minutes this stir fry tastes good. The above ingredients serve 1, so adjust accordingly.
Enjoy good food - if you like stir fry - you’ll enjoy this.
All the best Jan
