~ Hello, I wish you a Happy July 2025 ~
May the month ahead be a good one for you
May the month ahead be a good one for you
In previous years regular readers will know I usually start each month with facts about the coming month ahead. This year however, a break with tradition, which I hope you have been enjoying because the first of each month has been featuring a lower carb recipe starting with the first letter of that particular month ... so here we go as it's now July and the seventh month of the year!
J is for ? can you guess ?
Yes, I am talking about Jazz Apples !
Originating in the beautiful orchards of New Zealand, JAZZ™ apples are now grown across the globe to ensure year-round supply worldwide. New Zealand botanists created the Jazz apple in the 1980s by cross breeding two other popular apple varieties – Braeburn and Gala. Look in the produce sections of your local supermarket and in quality independent retail stores, green grocers and markets.

Jazz Apple Crumble/Crisp : Made the lower carb way
However, fear not, Apple Crumble - which really is a symbol of great family meals and togetherness - has a lower carb version! Yes fellow low carb blogger Julia McPhee has a 'low carb' version of this family favourite and she says ' No McPhee family gathering is complete (without her version) of Apple Crumble'.

Thank you for another lovely recipe Jan. I can't wait to try it. Happy July!
...I wish you a Jazzy and Jubilant July, Jan.
Hi Jan, I do like apple 🍎 😊 crumble. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
We have Jazz apples here, hubby prefers honey crisps, but I like the granny smiths more, especially for crumble, I have made it with oatmeal before but I will have to try this recipe now :)
I've never had Jazz apples. I'm going to look for them!
Happy July! The crumble looks delicious.
I always have trouble making a crumble topping that remains a crumble. I wonder if I leave too much moisture in the fruit. I might try this topping next time I make one :)
Looks very nice, Jan. We have Royal Gala apples here.
I've just made a crumble using up the last of last year's fruit. High sugar for me, but I'm okay with that once in a while, it's all about balance.
I love Jazz apples around here too. But their sizes are getting smaller lately
Esse crumble é delicioso e muito simples de fazer!
beijos, FELIZ JULHO! chica
I like Jazz apples and have them frequently - a very satisfying crunch!
Happy July to you Jan!

Happy July Jan. Donno Jazz Apple but they look good :-D
Not sure I have tried a JAZZ! It is funny how taste changes, I used to eat apples, YEARS ago. Then I would not touch them. I did not like the texture of them in my mouth, but recently I started eating them again. I love mine to be juicy, hard not mushy and sweet. I found that in the Pink Ladies.
I have never seen Jazz apples at both supermarkets and local marketing.
Have a nice month of July.
A great way to start JULY!!! Yummy~ I love that crumble on top of apple pie instreat of a top crust.
Looks yummy
My family loves apples. I don't believe we've ever had a Jazz. Now I will be on the hunt...
hmmmm nothing better than apple crisp.
I love apple crisp. I don't think I've ever heard of Jazz apples. I'll have to look for them.
