In the United States nearly 90% of adult diabetics are not treated effectively !

"In the United States alone, nearly 90% of adult diabetics -- more than 16 million adults aged 35 and older -- have blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol that are not treated effectively, meaning they do not meet widely accepted targets for healthy levels of blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol."

The same probably applies to UK diabetics when you consider the NHS statistics on diabetic HbA1c. No data is ever published showing the percentage or number of diabetics holding HbA1c in the four or fives i.e non diabetic. Have you ever wondered why ? I have. Could it be the diabetics holding non diabetic HbA1c numbers are not following the standard NHS advice on diet. Could it be the diabetics in the safe BG range, highlight the total lack of success that new drugs, dietitions etc. etc. have achieved.

Is the raising of NICE guidelines for recommended HbA1c to 7.5 an attempt to bluff people into believing improvements are being made ? 7.5 is roughly 50% higher than the average BG level of a non diabetic. A very long way from good diabetes control. Organ damage occurs well below 7.5, the informed medics know this. The last word goes to Dr. Malcolm Kendrick.

“The reality is that over the years, and around the world we have killed literally millions of diabetics by advising them to eat a high-carb diet and avoid fats. Only now is it being recognised that previous advice was and remains useless, dangerous and scientifically illiterate"

I do not apologise for highlighting sentences already made in this article. With more and more information being made available to all, including health professionals and the ordinary Joe it is still hard to believe that many of us still choose to shut our eyes and ears to what can and is being acheived.

An ordinary Joe would like to add he wholeheartily agrees with this. I would ask all diabetics that if they want to hold non diabetic levels, and it is possible as many who read this blog would testify, then please cut out/lower the amount of sugar/carbs you eat. You will be amazed at what can be acheived.
