Imagine being a dietitian and believing you knew what a good diet was all about. Telling people for years to base their diet on starchy carbohydrates which is a diet based on sugar. Also telling people to avoid saturated fats, and they would lead to all sorts of health care complications. Then, you read day after day sugar has been the bad guy all along, and John Yudkin was right all those years ago. You also read saturated fat reduction has proved to have no effect on heart disease and stroke. In a nutshell, you realise you have been about as far wrong as it is possible to be, especially about the diet you have been recommending to diabetics for years.
You have read in the past about very high profile dietitians receiving money from outfits like Coca Cola and Mars etc. in the UK, you have read about Dietitians for Integrity in the US, and you start wondering, what if I have got it wrong, could these low carb diabetics who have promoted a low carb high fat lifestyle regime for years be right.

They always provided much amusement as from here
“Just had my appointment with the Dietetics and was given the standard advice about cutting down on fats, protein and upping the level of starchy food!
Tried to show her that the reduced carb was the way to go for me. Total cholesterol at DX 7.8, HBA1c 8.3 and weight 18 stone 4 pounts. HBA1c two weeks ago 5.2, total cholesterol 4.3, HDL 2.9, LDL 2.23 and Trigs 1.27 and weight today 15 stone 1 pound.
I've taken the reduced carb approach I told her and she said that its all down to the meds! and when I stop losing weight I should go back to the starchy diet! NO WAY I said that is how I got the extra weight in the first place. She didnt condeme my approach but was not supporting it. I told her that there was no relationship between the fat you eat and cholesterol and she said there was a little.
The results above show for me the reduced carb approach works, thank God.
Hopefully that is the last appointment I will have with the dietetics.
Meds metformin 3x500g, Simvastation 40mg and Ramipril 5mg.”

Nice one John.
I have tried to forget the resident dietitian and the threats of legal action and phone calls from the Police.
How wrong she is beginning to look as each day passes.
