All the diabetics I know, or know of with the best blood glucose numbers and control are all low carbers. I'm talking around 30 grams of carb a day here. Others including myself, hold non diabetic numbers with minimal or no medication (type two's only) on around 50 grams of carb per day. Others hold good numbers on a higher amount of carbs, I have seen people holding good numbers and quoting 150 even 200 grams per day. You may be thinking that's cool and they are the lucky ones. The problem is this situation does not last long for most. The already damaged pancreas is being put under a greater load than necessary, for many the often required weight loss will not happen on that sort of carb level, for others the carb addiction goes on. I have seen so many people who are trying to juggle high carb amounts and stay safe, these people are very often talking about falling off the waggon and weight loss stalls etc.
Using 30 to 50 grams per day of carb gives a huge range of foods available to the low carber, as we have proved on this blog with the many recipes and food ideas. Why eat more carbs than necessary, why take more medication than necessary. One other point, many diabetics will suffer further beta cell destruction over time, and insulin will become essential, as we know, the more carbs, the more insulin, the more insulin, the greater the damage and lack of predictability. Get on the case now, not next week or next month or next year.
Even the ADA are talking of low carb levels being beneficial that would have been unheard of a short time a go, as the article below illustrates.
From the Low Carb Dietitian my bold.
"When I initially read this document, I was disappointed by the statement, “Evidence is inconclusive for an ideal amount of carbohydrate intake for people with diabetes. Therefore, collaborative goals should be developed with the individual with diabetes.” It was hard to reconcile that first sentence with my knowledge of carb restriction’s dramatic effect on blood glucose response. However, upon further reflection, I now view the statements made in this paper as being far more permissive of low carb than in the past. The ADA no longer says that a minimum of 130 grams of carbohydrate daily are required to meet the brain’s energy demands; in fact, they seem to accept the possibility of even very-low-carbohydrate intake, as evidenced by the sentence, “Some published studies comparing lower levels of carbohydrate intake (ranging from 21 grams daily up to 40% of daily energy intake) to higher carbohydrate intake levels indicated improved markers of glycemic control and insulin sensitivity with lower carbohydrate intakes.” So while the ADA also approves vegan, Mediterranean, and low-fat diets for diabetes management, carbohydrate restriction is now considered just as valid an option, which is very encouraging for the doctors, dietitians, and other healthcare providers who take this approach."

I'd love to know how Defren gained 2 stone. She was looked up to as an inspirational low carber who always quoted "carbs are poison".
She must have been on a very high wagon to fall so hard.
What is your fixation with Defren ?
Eddie
It's far from a fixation, she dishes out her advice about low carb but cannot follow it.
I would have thought that a person who is so vocal about the advantages of a low carb diet would prove how successful it is for her or at least explain why she has put all the weight on. Hardly makes sense to hide from view rather than admit it isn't working.
I don't know the person in question, but I just want to tell that it is possiable to gain weight even on a LC diet, espesially if the person is in a monopause, lost recently a lot of weight. Also, many people reported weight gaine after eating such LC foods as nuts-based deserts, yogurt, cheese, or even too much butter with everything.
Hi Galina
Glad to see you back. The anon is just over here to have a bitch at someone, best ignored I reckon.
Regards Eddie
Thank you, Eddie. I am still in Russia, but now I have an internet. Some traditional foods eaten at funerals are really wrong ones for still alive LCarbers, but there is no way to avoid it without offending relatives.
