With a Spring In Our Step ...

Did you know that the first day of Spring in 2019 is Wednesday, the 20th of March - well that is what the calendar may tell us - but out and about yesterday it really was a lovely spring-like day. In fact many in the UK experienced temperatures around 16C (61F) and the unseasonably mild weather saw the warmest Valentine’s Day (14th February) in more than twenty years recorded in the Welsh town of Bala, Gwynedd.

There was definitely 'a spring in our step' as Eddie and I enjoyed a walk in the garden,
the crocus were pleased to see the sunshine, as they formed a ring around the tree

Several clumps of snowdrops looked so beautiful,
as they bowed their heads in the sunlight

and the early daffodils were such a cheerful sight

Leaving the garden behind, we just enjoyed a walk around the neighbourhood, sometimes it's just the simple things of life that are so pleasing …

Of course the first thing I did on our return was put the kettle on, well you just can't beat a nice cup of tea (or coffee), especially if you have a small piece of low carb Black Forest Gateau with it … please see recipe details here

Wishing all readers a Happy Weekend
All the best Jan

Oh thank you so much for this wonderfully evocative post! It certainly made me feel springlike!
Gosh, your daffodils are way ahead of ours. They are barely coming into bud!
And your Black Forest Gateau looks amazing. It has always been one of my favourites, so I am keen to try your recipe.
Thank you so much for sharing!😊😊

Have a great weekend!

Oh my, what a lovely day and flowers blooming too. Glad you both enjoyed yourselves. My daffodils do not bloom until around May 20. What's funny is I am at the top of a hill and just below me is another smaller hill and the daffodils there bloom about two weeks before mine do. I guess my northern exposure and slightly higher altitude keeps us on the cooler side. It's the only thing I can figure. Such a funny thing.

Someday.......But at the moment it's 24F and snowing in northeast Ohio.......Someday spring will come, but we often have our worst snowstorms after March 20th, sometimes in April.

the crocus around the tree, would that be considered a fairy circle?

It was simply gorgeous here yesterday. 59 degrees. I wanted so badly to go out, but had to wait for UPS to pick up an Amazon package I am returning.

I'm pea green with envy! You've seen flowers blooming outdoors!! WOW, what a treat. Was 21 degrees here again this am (F), cold, ugly, gray...certainly no hint of spring or flowers. But I am definitely in count down mood waiting for spring to come. I HATE winter.

Hi CJ
My youngest grand-daughter and I love the flower fairies, and yes there are 'crocus fairies'
see The Crocus Fairies https://flowerfairies.com/the-crocus-fairies/

But a fairy ring, also known as fairy circle, elf circle, elf ring or pixie ring, is a naturally occurring ring or arc of mushrooms. The rings may grow to over 10 metres (33 ft) in diameter, and they become stable over time as the fungus grows and seeks food underground. They are found mainly in forested areas,... read more here

I love when signs of spring start popping up. None here so far- and we are getting a little snow tonight. But- I feel hopeful that spring will be here in a month or so and the days are getting longer, which I love. Thanks for sharing the photos of spring popping up. :)
