'Chinese proverb … He who plants a garden, plants happiness.'

summer garden

This post was inspired by the Chinese Proverb, 'he who plants a garden, plants happiness' which I saw on blogging friend 'Flighty's post here

So many find that gardening can be a source of relaxation, comfort and enjoyment, it can also be hugely beneficial to mental health. Time and time again many of us find that connecting with plants and the environment can help with a natural route to wellbeing.

I think spending time in a garden, whether it be digging, planting, tidying or just walking does bring happiness. Even if the weather is not favourable, as many of us are currently experiencing, spending time sitting in your armchair looking at flowers, plants, and trees either in a book, magazine or the internet can bring enjoyment  ... would you agree?

Of course, for me, after gardening a cuppa is always welcome... and perhaps as a treat a slice of low carb ginger cake, you can see the recipe here

All the best Jan

Gardening does give me happiness - and rather a lot of work. When I have hit publish on this comment I am going into ours - before it gets tooooo hot.

Gardening is so good for the heart - and can also be good for the body.

I don't think anything brought me more joy than gardening. I do so miss it. Monty Don says if you have a garden then you don't need a gym. To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.

What a lovely post! Gardening truly does have a magical way of soothing the mind and uplifting the spirit. I couldn't agree more about the joy found in simply connecting with nature, whether outdoors or from the comfort of home. A cup of tea and ginger cake sounds like the perfect way to end a peaceful gardening session!

What a lovely and calming post! Gardening truly is a wonderful way to nurture both the mind and the soul. Whether you're physically in the garden or simply enjoying its beauty from the window, it's amazing how nature can bring such peace. And a cuppa with ginger cake sounds like the perfect way to unwind after some gardening!

I love this quote - we have enjoyed being back in our Aussie garden there has been a fair bit of gardening to do since we have been away, it's the best form of exercise!

Always a pleasure to see a lovely garden. We have one, I fell into the tomatoes and broke two plants the other day, I'm ok just hit my head on the wooden fence, maybe I might have knocked some sense into me...lol

I purchased a terracotta plague with that proverb stamped on it about 25 years ago and I hung it on a wall in my garden. I love gardening. Rita

I agree on the Chinese proverb about the relationship between gardening and happiness. Forthermore, green, the colour of nature, is very restful on the eye.

Yo no tengo un jardín, pero tengo patio y terraza y allí tengo mis plantas. Disfruto mucho de ellas y me ocupo de su riego.
Un abrazo.
