Taxpayers foot entire bill for 22-year-old's boob job !

"Breast augmentation is not a typical medical procedure covered under the U.K.'s socialist system of medicine, known officially as the National Health System (NHS). But it suddenly became one recently after 22-year-old Josie Cunningham convinced her doctor that being flat-chested was "causing her emotional distress," and that having bigger boobs was the only way to remedy the problem."

"I don't earn much, but I think I will get used to living the high life  very easily," she is quoted as saying to The Sun. "The sky's the limit now that I've got my new boobs -- and I can't thank the NHS enough for giving them to me."

Yesterday Graham put up a post regarding the lamentable situation in the NHS regarding diabetes care. Many diabetics are being refused test strips to check blood glucose. Without BG testing strips BG control becomes a game of chance. Test strips are expensive to buy and the poor or disadvantaged cannot afford them. The NHS say this is a matter of cost. They also say they believe many diabetics become stressed knowing their BG numbers and is counter productive. Well that could be partially true. If you follow the NHS dietary advice for diabetics and test your BG it will almost always be in the dangerous zone, as the NHS audits prove, most diabetics in the UK spend most of their lives running dangerous BG numbers.

So, the NHS can’t afford test strips or improve the situation for diabetics, but they can afford to pay for boob jobs for a wannabe Katy Price. What appalled me more than anything else over this story, is the fact Graham reckons it was money well spent !

I think the limited access to the blood sugar testing is the key for the legend about the healthiness of whole grains and fruits to survive. It is absolutely unnecessary to tell people with diabetes which foods to eat if they wold be given a BS testing supplies and told to eat according to they BS meter.
I hope taxpayers of UK will file a complain about wasting their money on breast implants. As far as I know (not from my personal experience), it is a high maintenance procedure - people have to have additional corrective surgeries approximately every 10 years and also deal with complications, so the initial surgery is just the beginning of spending.

It’s very sad when a woman thinks her life is going to be transformed because she has larger breasts. I have read many men encourage their wives or girl friends to have this potentially dangerous work carried out. I would say to women lose the man and save your money. If someone does not like you as you are, dump them ! Some people do have a deformity that can be improved and they deserve all the help they can get, small breasts is not a deformity. Many woman curse large breasts, if you have good health, be very thankful for what you’ve got I say.

I am also not an advocate of a breast enlargement, but it is not a point. What if somebody gets emotionally distressed from not looking like a movie star? Or not "cool" enough without a huge tattoo? People who allow such frivolous expenses to be covered from public money supposed to be more reasonable and sane than 22 yo with wrong priorities in life. I really hope that British public will find ways to fine that doctor to cover at least future expenses his foolish decision will bring, or more follow such precedent.

Am in agreement with this comment 'Complete waste of taxpayer funded NHS money!'
Just think what this money could have been spent on, there are far more deserving than this

H E L P now I know the world is truly mad when a decision like this is made. As a previous comment states this is criminal. What were the decision makers thinking when this decision was made, was it made by men who liked big boobs?
