Pumpkin Time Comes Around Again, with a special tribute to Queen Elizabeth

A farmer from Eye, Suffolk recently gave an early warning that pumpkins won't be as big as usual this Halloween, due to the hot weather and lack of rainfall.

Pumpkins stop growing in temperatures over 28 degrees, so this year's hot UK summer means they haven't had as much time to grow, resulting in smaller fruit.

Freddy Vaudrey said "Sadly we're not gonna have some of the huge, gigantic pumpkins that we had over previous years."
Story from here

However there is a pumpkin farm in Hampshire, Southern England, UK  that has created a huge Paddington Bear mural tribute to the Queen. It is made out of 10,000 pumpkins and squash.
Isn't it wonderful, read the full story here

Lovely.
My father didn't like pumpkin (he said it was animal food). It was never served at home but I love it.

That Paddington mural is cute. I haven't heard much about pumpkins here -- I'll have to ask around. We haven't had a lot of rain, either. Your little guy is just adorable.

I like the pumpkin regular, but in this area it has happened the same, the hot summer that has marked a record of temperatures has ruined the crops.
Best regards.

What a beautiful tribute to the Queen!
Pumkins are not so big as they should, because of the unusual warm weather and water shortage.

Look at all the pumpkins in the photo to honor our/your queen! Beautiful. I've always been in awe of Queen Elizabeth. What a duty she had all those years, and without a doubt missing her beloved husband.

That recipe looks divine however that is not one of my favorite foods. That's really saying something since I'm teased because I love liver and onions over grits! :)

The pumpkins up here seem to be the same size as ever - huge. We didn't have the same summer up here, just a week or so.
