Tomatoes are in season during August; simple salads of fresh tomatoes are a highlight of summer. Look for bright and firm tomatoes with wrinkle-free skins that are not split, and have a sweet, earthy scent. If sold on the vine, choose a thick, strong vine with tightly attached tomatoes. It's best not to put tomatoes in the fridge as this will impair their flavour and texture.
But ... have you tried tomato in a pie? This savoury low-carb pie is best with fresh summer tomatoes from a Southern garden. If you can’t get Southern tomatoes, just get tomatoes! You can enjoy this pie by itself, or with salad, but it's also delicious served with grilled meats - as always dear reader the choice is yours.

I have heard of tomato pie but never had a slice before. I love raw tomato but not the biggest on the cooked ones.
...I've never had this, but I should give it a try.
Perfect timing Jan, our tomato plants are producing too many to count!
Reads as if it would be nice to taste Jan.
I hadn't heard of tomato pie but this sounds very good. Thank you. When tomatoes come into season again here hopefully I will remember it.

Bella questa ricetta. È molto invitante
I am not altogether sure whether you serve this as a main dish like you would a quiche or is it a side dish like a vegetable? Either way, it looks and sounds utterly delicious.
I love tomato season and this looks like a wonderful addition to my growing collecting of tomato recipesT
New to me but I would like to try it.

Interesting recipe. Kisses
There’s nothing better than homegrown tomatoes and fresh lettuce. Great salads and BLTs.
Does sound good.
Coffee is on, and stay safe.

Tomato pie is a new on me. We just had a tomato and corned beef sandwich for lunch and discussed how in two and a half weeks we will be eating Greek tomatoes, simply the best, tastiest and most juicy tomatoes ever.
Yes, with 2020 happening it seems like there's been a time blip. Have a wonderful holiday weekend.
No I've never had a tomato pie but it does look tasty.
Have not heard of that, our poor cherry tomatoes are dying, I think they got too much water and then we have had this long heat spell temps in the 100's and they just haven't faired well
How interesting! I've never heard of tomato pie before.xxx
I have not been brave enough to attempt an almond flour pie crust as yet but this sounds simple and easy so I'll definitely try it. Thanks!
Another delicious looking recipe, thanks!
Sounds good!
