As a young boy I attempted to play blues guitar, much influenced by the likes of Herbert Sumlin, Jimmy Reed, John Lee Hooker. This attempt was abruptly curtailed by the comments of John Lee Hooker (These comments honest and true, implied I would be better employed as a mathematician. Subsequently at Manchester, I heard many over variations of the the blues. What follows was part of the learning process, Jimmy Witherspoon, May 1964 at Manchester's Free Trade Music Hall.
