Saturday night is music night on this blog.
Sad news this week, blues legend and long time type two diabetic B B King has died. I was privileged to see the great man live in performance twice. Once in the Royal Festival Hall in September 1981, during the recording of the record Royal Jam, with the The Crusaders and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, maybe the best concert I ever attended, and once with his band at the Hammersmith Odeon.
B B was the epitome of what can be achieved with the right attitude. His Mother died when he was very young and he was picking cotton before he was ten. From a humble a background as can be imagined, he rose to become one of the worlds greatest musical performers. Rated as one of the best guitarist of all time, a great singer and entertainer. He was a true one off, never less than immaculately dressed, always well mannered, and hard working almost to the end. RIP B B you have earned a long rest, you are gone, but your music will outlive us all. For countless millions the thrill will never be gone. Eddie
