Is This The Ultimate Morning Tonic !

I wonder what your go to drink is in the morning? If you are a regular reader here you'll know mine is tea, the day just doesn't seem right without it! However, I know many prefer coffee ... and some may just start the day with 'the ultimate morning tonic' like nutritionist Rachel Morrow sometimes does ...

She writes:
"This invigorating, immune boosting and detoxifying morning tonic is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds.

It takes a little more than just opening your eyes and splashing your face with water to wake up the body. Our bodies are a complex system and one of the best things you could do for your body upon waking is to rev up your digestive system!

Rehydrate and get things moving with this, the Ultimate Morning Tonic. Turmeric and ginger are well-known for their healing benefits such as stimulating the digestive system, anti-inflammatory properties, and cleansing properties, just to name a few!

Lemon and apple cider vinegar are the perfect ingredients to help kill bacteria, naturally decongest any mucus build up while helping to balance the body’s pH levels.

Add some cayenne pepper and cinnamon to really fire things up! A great tonic to sip on in the morning to wake and invigorate the body.

INGREDIENTS:
(use organic ingredients where possible)
1 tsp fresh ginger root, grated (or powdered)
1 tsp fresh turmeric root, grated (or powdered)
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp raw honey
Pinch of cayenne pepper or black pepper
Pinch of ground cinnamon

METHOD:
Add all ingredients to a large mug.
Add boiling water and stir until well mixed.
Enjoy hot or allow to cool and drink cold."

Now I wonder, will your choice be tea or coffee, or perhaps you may you try the 'ultimate morning tonic'

Despite all my friends thinking I was weird for trying this a few months ago, I got used to the taste after about 3 days, and it definitely caused me to lose weight. I've always loved spicy things. I just read that eating tart cherries are good for diabetics, so I'm thinking about adding a few to get some sweetness. Thanks for sharing. Happy Thursday!

Wow! That sounds, um, explosive. My go to drink in the morning is a big glass of water. Boring eh?

Thanks for sharing Jan! Like Valerie it's coffee for me though.

I prefer tea or a smoothie.

Some will start with a glass of water with lemon, which makes sense as well.

I will try that tonic one of these mornings!

: )

I'm a tea/coffee person too Jan but I do always have a glass of water, two tablespoons apple cider vinegar plus honey and ginger last thing at night :)

It sounds a bit rough for me, but I'm in the midst of getting off fake sugar and caffeine drinks, so I may try it. Have a beautiful day!

Now that sounds like an interesting combo, I am a big water drinker, I have a glass first thing when I wake up and then I have another when I am having my breakfast. At lunch I do have a glass of black iced tea, but other than that it is just plain old water, but sounds like I could be getting some more benefits by adding a few things to it. I am not a big drinker of hot things, even in the winter unless it is bitterly cold and then I have the very occasional hot cocoa.
Hope your August is off to a good start!

I drink something similar to this when I'm not feeling too well, I'm not sure I could manage it first thing though. I do like my morning coffee. X

I drink plenty of teas throughout the day. I would like to give this a try, not sure about the pepper in the morning.
I just tried a turmeric latte yesterday and wasn't overjoyed with the taste, I like turmeric in food though. I suppose we need to try things a few more times before our taste buds change.

We always always start with coffee...at least in the summer. Then throughout the day, we have cups of tea. When Autumn rolls in, we'll start our mornings with just tea! :)

A real mix of flavors. Since my coffee is usually black and now occasionally with butter or coconut oil I think this would be too much for my taste buds. Very interesting though.

This is something I'd try out of curiosity. But I have to have my coffee in the morning!

I start my day with chai - which has some of the spices mentioned.

Tea for me, usually Earl Grey or Irish breakfast. I could never understand the appeal of coffee.

The first thing I drink in the morning is a nice big glass of water when I get back from my walk.
With breakfast I always have a glass of milk.

That's certainly an unusual mix of ingredients that initially sounds a little off putting. I've read more about turmeric recently and of course I know about ginger so I guess the drink would be quite invigorating. I have also read that coffeee is not necessarily a bad thing at all in moderation and after all, it is a completely natural product, so I'll stick to that for my 10am drink for now.

Can't do without lots of tea though! And of course wine, but only in the evening.

My morning choice is coffee unless I have to go out, then it's just water, with a coffee as soon as I get home. I drink tea, but not as often as I should. When I do it is a mix of sage and chamomile, or a lemon-ginger tea. If I've been ill, (rare) or feel I need a boost to immunity in the winter, I'll have apple cider vinegar with hot water and honey.

I'm a tea drinker, bit I'd be willing to give this a try. It sounds like a real eye-opener. Literally. (Especially with the cayenne...)

Bet that packs a punch first thing, not sure I could drink something like it in the morning though.
I do enjoy my orange juice!
