Washing the bed linen and a tasty low carb breakfast

Well, you can't say there isn't variety on this blog. Whether it be articles and studies about diabetes and living the low carb lifestyle, to a wide variety of recipe suggestions, and even wildlife photography - there is variety - and they do say 'variety is the spice of life'.

But how about this one?

I don't think you can beat fresh sheets on the bed, and apparently 78% of us say they are more excited to go to bed if they have fresh-smelling sheets.

You may have seen recent reports that "experts have revealed how often you should wash your sheets and you’re probably not cleaning them as often as you should be.

There’s nothing like fresh sheets but we can be lazy when it comes to actually getting around to washing our bed linen.

Experts at the Sleep Foundation have revealed that we should all be washing our bed sheets once a week.

The foundation also revealed that most people only actually wash their bed linen every other week.

In some cases, you should be washing your sheets even more often than once a week.

If you have asthma or allergies, for example, it can be worth washing your sheets more frequently than this to see if this improves your symptoms.

Plus, if you sleep with a pet in your bed, you ought to be cleaning your sheets every three or four days.

If you eat in your bed, go to bed without showering, or sleep naked, you should also clean your sheets more than once a week.

But why is it so important to keep your sheets clean? Well, dirt, dead skin cells, body oils and sweat build up on bed linen over time.

Most importantly, however, dust mites - including their carcasses and faecal matter - can build up in your bed. They’re common in most homes, surviving purely off dead skin cells, and can cause irritation of the skin as well as making allergy symptoms worse -
 - so it’s definitely worthwhile to keep your sheets clean and enjoy bedtime to the fullest.

Dear reader, a variety of articles and recipe ideas are found within this blog, and not all may be suitable for you. If you may have any food allergies, or underlying health issues these must always be taken into account. We wash our sheets every week - and if I had access to a clean sheets fairy I would have clean sheets every day.

I do love fresh sheets. There is something about sliding in to bed at night when the sheets have just been washed that is just dreamy. I try to wash mine once a week- but there are times I fall behind. Interesting post!

It's once a week for me, and they're dried in the fresh air and sunshine when the weather's nice.

I used to wash my sheets every week. Now I sometimes skip a week but still wash the pillow cases.

Hello Jan, My sheets are washed once a week, and they smell perfumed because of the liquid I use, and softener. They were changed yesterday by my daughter, and I always love sliding into bed with clean linen.

I eat a light breakfast, just cereal and a cup of tea, but I can imagine someone with a heartier appetite enjoying that meal.:=)

Once a week without fail for me, and I echo Elephant's Child - clean sheets every day would be a dream come true!
The breakfast dish looks scrumptious!

Fresh sheets are wonderful. I always go to bed sock free because I think about the dirt from the floor I would be adding to the bed if I was wearing them! That casserole looks delicious.

I just put fresh sheets on today.

Yes, its heavenly to go to bed on clean sheets. They get washed here every Monday and if the weather is good they are hung outside on the line to dry.
I don't have a dryer so in bad weather they are dried on a drying rack that I put over a heating vent.

I just changed the sheets today on the bed, I have only 2 sets so I wash and put in the drawer till time to change...and they get washed when the next laundry day happens. It is a great feeling of scrumptious for at least one night. Eat in bed?? OH MY...

I definitely need to wash sheets more often and I never dreaded doing them till the two beds we have now, specially one of them. It is like wrestling an elephant to get the fitted sheet back on and I really dread it. But hopefully, this post will get me back on track with it.

I LOVE sheets hung outside...if I could have one luxury, it would be going to bed on sheets that were hung outside....every night!

Clean sheets that have been hung on the line outside are my favorites. Yes, weekly washing of bed linens is so important, but more would be even better.

While washing sheets in winter is more of a chore as we prefer flannels then, it still is something I never fail to do weekly. The smell of a freshly made bed after a refreshing shower is so comforting. And, that reminds me, that sheets are due to be changed on Thursday.

I once slept with my pet in bed. The next morning the bed was soaking wet and my goldfish had died.

God bless.

Suelo cambiarlas una vez a la semana y me encantan cuando están limpias. Besos.

Now I feel very virtuous! We wash our sheets weekly, and the only other occupant of the bed is Miriam. We don't sleep naked, we don't have allergies, we never eat in bed....and so on, so our little bodies must be happy as can be!
