These sharp yet sweet fruits are at their best in late summer, although many shops/supermarkets have some already. In British folklore, it was believed to be unlucky to pick wild blackberries after Michaelmas, on 29 September – so make the most of them while you can! They’re best stored unwashed, on a layer of kitchen paper in the fridge to prevent them crushing each other.

Yum.
We used to pick them as a child. My mother made an excellent blackberry pie and blackberry jam. And we all ate a lot of them as they came off the vine (while keeping an eye out for the snakes who frequently sunned themselves under those bushes).
Just love blackberries, the recipes are looking good.
Lovely and tasty. They grow wild around here.
God bless.
I love blackberries both of these recipes sound good, I would never have thought to have them in a salad.
Interesting recipe of the dessert, Jan! I've heard of mango or orange in a salad but not of blackberries ... It would great to have them in a salad :-) I'll give it a try!
Those blackberries in your picture are so big. Blackberries here in the countryside will be ready in two week.

Blackberries are so good and I especially like them in salads for their tartness and color.
I have access to loads of blackberries. They grow wild everywhere here and on my fence line. I will give these a try. Have a great day.

We just had some blackberries and blueberries with strawberries in a bit of cool whip for dessert last night.
I am a big fan of them :-D
Blackberries, rasberries, and strawberries = all three superfood - are a great favorite of mine. I'll eat them in raw form or with any given meal: salads, main course, dessert. These fruit go well with anything, both as an addition or as integral part of a dish.
