Did you know that Bank Holiday's in the UK date back to 1871,
read more about that here
We've recently had a three day Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK and for most the weather was good, but as well as the Bank Holiday it's also been a week off school for many UK schools.
These two grandchildren spent some wonderful days
yes, looking at a lovely view of the path and Cove
which they had fun walking/climbing down carefully!

and there is always time for fun at the park

...Bank Holiday, an interesting term!
Lovely photos and it looks like your grandchildren had a brilliant time xx
Your grandchildren look to be enjoying themselves. I've always wanted to visit Dorset but it's somewhere we haven't been yet. Yum, that ice-cream looks delicious.
Great photos of your weekend with the kids and I love the idea of low carb ice cream. Hugs, Valerie
Oh I LOVE Lulworth Cove...have been there so many times, and after reading this fabulous post, I am longing to visit there again!:)

What an interesting natural rock formation that is. Way Cool.
Those bank holidays, or long weekends, as we call them in Canada, are most welcome respites from everyday life. Durdle Dor looks like a wonderful place to explore with your grandchildren. They look very happy to be out and about with you.
Beautiful Dorset ice cream, yum. Fabulous the other pictures Jan.

We still refer to public holidays as Bank Holidays too.
And it looked as if yours was WONDERFUL.
What beautiful photos and lovely memories you are creating with those grandchildren. It must have been a fun three days. I asked several British friends a couple of years ago about Bank Holidays. Nice to read their replies were spot on with those of Wikipedia.
Looks like the end to a perfect weekend included a very sweet treat, too.

I always wondered about the origin of the Bank Holiday. The beautiful scenery must have added to the joy of the long weekend. How wonderful to enjoy with the grands. Thanks for sharing your special time. ♥

Lulworth Cove does look very lovely and inviting. Even more so with an ice cream in the hand. I think I need to go, if only to say I've been to Durdle Door.
