MARCH brings a mix of recipe suggestions !

Yes, March is here! Did you know you can make some wonderful dishes just by using the initials from the month! Now that's different, have a look below:-

M is for Mushrooms
Mushrooms are a fungus which come in a wide range of varieties that belong to two distinct types: cultivated and wild. There’s plenty of varieties to experiment with in the kitchen – from giant Portobello mushrooms (perfect for veggie burgers) to delicate chanterelles and porcini.

A is for Avocado

R is for Raspberry
Raspberries are a favourite low carb fruit in our house. They are a member of the rose family (along with apples, cherries and blackberries) and are made up of small juicy rounds called drupelets. Due to their delicate nature, it’s vital to store raspberries correctly. Keep in the fridge, arranged in a single layer on a sheet of kitchen paper.

C is for Cauliflower
Cauliflower is an extremely healthy vegetable. It is very low in calories yet high in vitamins, and can provide some powerful health benefits, and is a great source of nutrients. In fact, cauliflower contains some of almost every vitamin and mineral that you need, including a few that many people need more of. What’s more, cauliflower is easy to add to your diet. It’s tasty, easy to prepare and can replace high-carb foods in several recipes.

H is for Halloumi
Have you heard of Halloumi? It's pronounced ha-loo-mee. It's a semi-hard chewy, white cheese originating from Cyprus and made from cow's, goat's or sheep's milk, or a combination. It has a mild salty flavour and lends itself beautifully to cooking due to its firm texture which is retained even when cooked and exposed to high temperatures. It has become a firm favourite in our household and sometimes we just cook a couple of slices and enjoy them as a snack! However Halloumi does lend itself so well to recipes such as these ...

I think it maybe the Lemon Garlic Pork Steaks with Mushrooms later in the week, and looking ahead to the weekend, must make sure I have some Halloumi! Although the Chicken Korma in the food choices for March (here) is tasty

I´ll try ALDI again, other, avocados are a real problem here. Hard as a stone and then dark brown when you open them. Sad. So healthy and yummy.
