MARCH brings a mix of recipe suggestions !

Yes, March is here! Did you know you can make some wonderful dishes just by using the initials from the month! Now that's different, have a look below:-

M is for Mushrooms
Mushrooms are a fungus which come in a wide range of varieties that belong to two distinct types: cultivated and wild. There’s plenty of varieties to experiment with in the kitchen – from giant Portobello mushrooms (perfect for veggie burgers) to delicate chanterelles and porcini.
Some recipes using mushrooms:

Cheesy mushroom omelette, details here

A is for Avocado
From their heart-healthy benefits and skin-loving nutrients to their unique versatility in recipes and making snack times extra delicious, we just love avocados.
Some recipes using avocados:

Sail Away on a delicious Avocado Boat, it's Keto, LCHF, Paleo, see details here

Avocado and Cucumber Soup, see details here

R is for Raspberry
Raspberries are a favourite low carb fruit in our house. They are a member of the rose family (along with apples, cherries and blackberries) and are made up of small juicy rounds called drupelets. Due to their delicate nature, it’s vital to store raspberries correctly. Keep in the fridge, arranged in a single layer on a sheet of kitchen paper.
Some recipes using raspberries:
Raspberry Cream Cheese Mug Cupcake, low carb and so delicious, more details here
Raspberry Baked Custard Dessert, more details here
Raspberry 'Sponge' Fingers : Low Carb and Sugar Free, more details here

C is for Cauliflower
Cauliflower is an extremely healthy vegetable. It is very low in calories yet high in vitamins, and can provide some powerful health benefits, and is a great source of nutrients. In fact, cauliflower contains some of almost every vitamin and mineral that you need, including a few that many people need more of. What’s more, cauliflower is easy to add to your diet. It’s tasty, easy to prepare and can replace high-carb foods in several recipes.
Some recipes using cauliflower:
Cauliflower Low Carb Mash, flavour it your way. Basic, cheesy, curried or buttery, more details here
Cauliflower Cheese and Cauliflower rice - more details here
Cauliflower rice with garlic and chilli prawns - more details here

H is for Halloumi
Have you heard of Halloumi? It's pronounced ha-loo-mee. It's a semi-hard chewy, white cheese originating from Cyprus and made from cow's, goat's or sheep's milk, or a combination. It has a mild salty flavour and lends itself beautifully to cooking due to its firm texture which is retained even when cooked and exposed to high temperatures. It has become a firm favourite in our household and sometimes we just cook a couple of slices and enjoy them as a snack! However Halloumi does lend itself so well to recipes such as these ...
Some recipes using halloumi:
Weekend Breakfast (or Lunch) Fry Up with Halloumi : LCHF, more details here
Halloumi Fries : Low Carb and Gluten Free, more details here
Halloumi salad with orange & mint : A taste of the Mediterranean, more details here

Some More Food Choices this March
more details here

I think it maybe the Lemon Garlic Pork Steaks with Mushrooms later in the week, and looking ahead to the weekend, must make sure I have some Halloumi! Although the Chicken Korma in the food choices for March (here) is tasty
How about you? May you try out one/some of the suggestions?

Dear reader, you will find a variety of articles, studies etc. plus recent news/views and recipe ideas within this blog, we hope something for everyone to read and enjoy ... but please note, not all may be suitable for you. If you may have any food allergies, or underlying health issues these must always be taken into account. If you are a diabetic and not sure how certain foods may affect your blood sugars, test is best, i.e. use your meter.

All the best Jan

I´ll try ALDI again, other, avocados are a real problem here. Hard as a stone and then dark brown when you open them. Sad. So healthy and yummy.
