Illinois Considers Medical Marijuana for Diabetes and Panic Disorders

More than 800,000 people in Illinois suffer from diabetes, and those people could soon get their hands on medical marijuana.
The marijuana advisory board is now showing support for at least two conditions to add to the Illinois state program--diabetes and panic disorders.
Both of which were voted on and now head to the Department of Public Health for consideration.
Currently, 39 conditions and diseases qualify a patient to use medical marijuana in Illinois.
Doctors say these additions could reduce the opioid problem.

”Where they're on already intolerable amounts of opiates that we can get down and off those opiates, manage their condition if they do need treatment like surgery, we're going to have the benefit," says orthopedic surgeon Charles bush-Joseph.
In the past, Republican Governor Bruce Rauner has shot down other conditions to be added to the list.

I don't know so many states have it banned on the medical side. If a doctor thinks you should have some, then you should.

There are good reasons for medical marijuana, but I haven't heard of it being a help for diabetes (except as a substitute for alcohol). Am I missing something or are people just trying to use this law (if it becomes one) as a loophole to allow as many as possible to light up?
