Seinfeld character actor Daniel von Bargen dies at age 64 after long battle with Diabetes

Daniel von Bargen has died at the age of 64.

The character actor is best known for playing George Costanza's boss Mr. Kruger in the final season of Seinfeld from 1997 to 1998.

The Cincinnati native passed away on Sunday, according to The Hollywood Reporter

.According to Cincinnati's NBC affiliate WLWT5, von Bargen had been suffering from an illness for a long time. The illness was not named.

But in 2012 he had tried to take his life with a gun.

The star told 911 dispatchers that he was upset over having to have part of his foot operated on because he was suffering from Diabetes.

The acting vet also starred as Commandant Edwin Spangler on Malcolm In The Middle. And he appeared on NYPD Blue, The West Wing, and Law & Order.

As far as movies, he was in Super Troopers, O Brother, Where Are Thou?, G.I. Jane and Basic Instinct.

Bob Colonna, an actor friend of the star, said, 'I feel a huge wave of sorrow and relief at the passing of this remarkable man, Dan von Bargen.

'I treasure the years when I worked with him at [Rhode Island-based theater company] Trinity Rep and in a couple of TV films.

'I admire his excellent body of work in the movies. And I mourn for the darkness and pain that were his final years. God bless him. He was a hell of a guy.'
