Memories are made of this …..

Is it me or do the years seem to be passing by even quicker these days?

It is so important to create and hold on to memories. Of course within life’s rich tapestry some memories are good, some bad, and some in-between. We must all choose those that we want to try and hold onto. This is where photographs help so much. I also think songs, music etc can set our thoughts going back to something special that may have happened in previous years. I‘m going to concentrate on the positive here because the other side of good can also be triggered by the same things….

Onwards then positively … are you doing something this weekend to create good memories for you .. Perhaps with family .. Perhaps with friends. Most of us have phones with a camera - will you take a photograph to record a memory from today?

We have been looking back at a few photographs recently. They were family ones, especially of the grandchildren. They grow so fast and it’s so easy to forget some of the little things that go to make up the bigger picture.

As Dean Martin sang - a few years ago now,

"Sweet, sweet memories you gave-a me
You can't beat the memories you gave-a me

Take one fresh and tender kiss
Add one stolen night of bliss
One girl, one boy
Some grief, some joy

Memories are made of this

Don't forget a small moonbeam
Fold in lightly with a dream
Your lips and mine
Two sips of wine

Memories are made of this

Then add the wedding bells
One house where lovers dwell
Three little kids for the flavour

Stir carefully through the days
See how the flavour stays
These are the dreams you'll savour

With his blessings from above
Serve it generously with love
One man, one wife
One love through life

Memories are made of this
Memories are made of this."

Perhaps in these modern times life does not always provide exactly as these  song words say, but memories are always there. Most of mine I cherish deeply, some I’d rather forget, especially those that cause sadness - but that is life’s rich tapestry and however it is woven it goes to make up our individual picture.

My picture this weekend have included grandchildren walking and playing by the beach, son and girlfriend enjoying a walk in the forest, family members sitting together watching the rugby. Eddie and I enjoying a stroll in the sunshine this afternoon and feeling energized for more blogging !

However you are creating your weekends picture, I hope it’s a good one with memories to cherish and not to discard.

Thanks for reading

All the best Jan

Yes Jan.. The older we get the faster time seems to go and it's so important to create memories. Each day is a gift to be treasured. Lovely to see photos of your family. Thank you.
Take care

Thanks for reading and thanks for the comments.

Another memory from this weekend will be sitting, relaxing and enjoying the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics ... what a show.
